Which Surfaces Can You Apply Stick on Tiles?
Recommended Surfaces for Stick on Tiles
Our stick on tiles can be applied to any smooth, un-textured surface. Here are some examples of surfaces that they can be applied to:
- Painted plasterboard aka drywall (must be painted at least 21 days before applying stick on tiles)
- Smooth ceramic splashback tiles
- Smooth glass splashback tiles
- Acrylic wall panels
- Linoleum walls
- Glass
- Mirror
- Wallpaper (if peeling, remove tear that part of the wallpaper off and apply tiles overtop)
Not Recommended Surfaces for Stick on Tiles
Surfaces that are dusty, uneven or textured do not work well for stick on tiles. There needs to be a smooth surface for the adhesive to stick. Here are some examples of surfaces that you should not apply stick on tiles to:
- Stucco walls
- Unfinished plasterboard
- Brick walls
- Stone walls
- Unpainted plywood
Not Recommended Areas for Stick on Tiles
Our tiles are generally used on walls (splashbacks), fire place mantels, furniture and stairs. There are other applications that work, but we do not recommend applying the tiles:
- in the shower
- on your countertop
- on the ceiling
- on the floor
- within 20cm of gas stovetops (read more about installing stick on tiles around your stove)
